Fees & how we make money
When a market pays out, the money comes from the collateral traders deposited, not from our revenue. What we charge: a mint fee when a pair is created and a redemption fee when a winner is claimed, each listed per market. Trading on Raydium also costs money: the pool's swap fee (mostly to liquidity providers) and network fees. None of that is set by us.
What the platform can collect
Creating a complete set
Minting creates one YES and one NO together. Each pair puts 1 USDC into the payout reserve, plus a separate mint fee into the fee account. That extra amount is the minting spread; it is not taken from the pair’s backing.
Merging or claiming a win
Merging burns equal amounts of YES and NO before a payout is fixed. Winning redemption burns the winning tokens after final resolution. Both release 1 USDC gross per pair or winning token, less the market’s redemption fee.
The contract separates the fee account from the holder reserve. Actual collection and the deployed recipient remain unverified.
What a Raydium trade costs
Buying or selling an existing YES or NO token is a swap, not a mint. A swap does not automatically incur the complete-set mint fee.
This site only links to pools; it implements no swap surcharge. No exact additional Raydium charge or platform revenue share is established here. Missing data is not a zero fee.
Configured rates, market by market
These are local market records, not verified deployed rates. 1 basis point (bp) = 0.01%. A configured zero is shown as zero; an unset fee is not.
The operator's fee schedule, the default every market is listed with
Create 100 pairs: pay 101 USDC. 100 USDC backs 100 YES + 100 NO; 1 USDC goes to the fee account.
Merge those pairs: 100 USDC leaves the reserve. Receive 98 USDC; 2 USDC goes to the fee account.
Mint → merge cost: 3 USDC, excluding network costs. Redeeming 100 winning tokens instead has the same 98 USDC net payout. Losing tokens pay 0 and take no fee; a cancelled market’s tokens redeem with no redemption fee.
Computed from the recorded operator rates with each fee rounded down to six USDC decimal places, the same arithmetic a configured market's schedule uses. This is a schedule decision on this site's records, not a verified deployed rate, and not a Raydium swap quote.

Defaults & calculation details
New-market mint default: 1% · 100 bps. Redemption default: 2% · 200 bps. These are the operator’s recorded decision and prefill the console form; a market’s own fixed schedule, once set, is what its trades quote. Losing tokens pay no fee, and cancelled-token redemption charges no redemption fee in the contract; the separate cancellation rule fixes how much each token receives.
- Exact rounding: fees = floor(amount in millionths of USDC × fee bps ÷ 10,000). Mint cost = backing + fee. Merge or winning receipt = gross backing − fee. The contract caps each rate at 1,000 bps (10%); that is a limit, not the chosen rate.
- No winning payout, no redemption fee: losing tokens pay 0. Cancelled-token redemption charges no redemption fee in the contract; the separate cancellation rule fixes how much each token receives.
- Fee control: the contract’s fee account is separate from the payout reserve. Its admin can sweep collected fees to a USDC account. Neither a deployed fee account nor its destination has been independently verified here.
- Pool income: liquidity providers supply tokens for trading and may receive part of a pool’s swap fees. Science Markets would earn that part only for liquidity it actually owns, under that pool’s rules. A creator fee is a separate possible charge, not evidence of our revenue. Neither ownership nor a creator rate is configured here.
Costs that are not our protocol fees
Spread, price impact & slippage
The bid/ask spread is the gap between selling and buying prices, not a guaranteed platform payment. Price impact is the movement caused by your order; slippage is the difference between the quote and execution. A slippage limit is protection, not a fee. Check the final swap quote, not just the chart.
Network costs & USDC risk
Solana charges transaction fees in SOL; priority fees and account-creation deposits (“rent”) may also apply. Those are not Science Markets revenue. Wallets and funding services may add their own charges. USDC can lose its dollar peg, be frozen by its issuer, or face issuer and redemption risk.
Before sending funds, verify the deployed market rates, fee recipient, pool fee tier and split, creator charges, and platform-owned liquidity. A configured link or launch flag verifies none of these.
